Description
This tour explores a tranquil area of the Shenandoah Valley and includes an option to float, canoe, or kayak on the on Virginia’s historic James River.
Some of the best hikes in the state are nearby as well. The biking loops out of Buchanan incorporate the cross-America Bike Route 76, the incomparable scenery of the Shenandoah Valley, and views of the James. The routes are not strenuous and the shorter mileages allow ample time for hiking, river adventures, or wine tasting after your ride. A popular hike is to the top of Sharp Top Mountain at the Peaks of Otter, a short distance away. However, the two charming B&Bs in Buchanan might entice you simply to relax on the front porch and watch the world go by. Be sure to stroll over the suspension bridge spanning the James River in downtown Buchanan.
Allen and Mary Turnbull of Virginia Odysseys will lead the inaugural tour July 16-18, 2010
